Face to Face is the 11th chapter of Taamo's Taiyou no Ie.

Summary[]

This begins with Mao's romantic dream about Hiro. Mao was hugging Hiro in her sleep, so Hiro pushed her away to take a shower. Mao angrily yells at Hiro demanding why he didn't wake her up and blames him if she is late to school.

While she is is taking a shower,, Mao tries to remember what happened in her dream, but couldn't quite remember. During breakfast, Mao remembers her dream and becomes embarrassed.

At school, Oda comes toward Mao and tells Mao that Hiro is the one that both she and Chi-chan likes, although that is a COMPLETE misunderstanding. Chi-chan comes in and takes Mao away to talk to her and Chi confesses to Mao that she likes Oda. She demands to know why Mao has been avoiding her. Mao decides to talk to Chi about everything, including the fact that she lives with the person she likes, Nakamura Hiro.

The scene changes and shows Chi and Mao's childhood at school, and how they became friends.

Later at home, Mao tells Hiro that she plans to have a face to face talk with her dad. Hiro tells her he will be coming also.

At the restaurant, Mao is waiting for his dad, who has come late.  Mao tries to gather her courage to tell her dad that she wants to come home, but she cannot because of her father's unhappiness when they meet. When Mao was about to mention coming home, her father decided to hand over her living expenses to her. She feels shocked that her father never considered that she might want to go home. Mao's father then acts very irritable and accuses Mao of leaving home like her mother when Mao asks "Dad... Do you hate me?" He tells her to get a job so that she can pay for her own stuff. Mao leaves the table. Hiro comes to Mao's father, and Mao's father gives Mao the money Mao forgot to take. Hiro tells Mao's father that it was clear that he was the one running away from Mao, which makes Mao's father confused.

Later, Mao cries and tells Hiro that she plans to move out so she won't be a burden. Hiro tells her that he wants her to stay, and hugs her.

Quotes[]

Chihiro: People seem to misunderstand you a lot, and it's tough getting them to understand.

Mao [thoughts]: That was the reason why I really didn't have any friends. But you still came and talked to me. That made me happy. It was kind of lonely at home, but I could be with Chi during school so I was really happy.
